U.S. Embassy Supports Environmental Education in Rwanda
Kigali – The U.S. Embassy is proud to support environmental education in Rwanda and supports efforts by Rwandans to spread the word about conservation.
That’s why the U.S. Embassy in Kigali supported an English composition competition organized by RYACA, or the Rwanda Youth Alliance for Climate Actions, under their project “Promoting Youthpreneurship and Enviropreneurship in Rwanda.”
The objective of the writing competition was to improve and promote English writing skills while also celebrating and spreading important information about environmental conservation. The theme for the write up competition was “Climate Change in Rwanda and the role of youth to address it.” In total, 32 Rwandan students submitted pieces for the contest. Six weeks of voting on the RYACA Facebook page and a review by an independent committee led to a selection of winners. The three winners were:
1. Nehemie Yesashimwe
2. Evariste Habimana
3. Jean Claude Munyaneza
Also part of the project was the production of a music video that promotes sound environmental practices while helping listeners practice English skills. Viewers can find a copy of the video, titled “Dufashe Isi/ Let’s Save the World” here:
The U.S. Embassy congratulates all the participants for their successful contribution to the project.
